Leading directly off the medieval Great Hall and up an ancient stone stairway, you will discover the very special Elizabethan Suite. This has to be one of the most atmospheric and romantic suites in England.

To be found in the very oldest parts of Abbots Grange the Elizabethan Suite comprises:

Medieval stone stairway leading directly to your suite and oratory.
A little over 41sqM in size comprising three interconnected rooms.
Beautiful open fire with seating area and flat screen television.
Generously proportioned oak panelled bedroom with heavily carved oak four poster bed.
Medieval ‘Oratory’ a small sitting room with traceried windows and circular trefoil window overlooking the Great Hall for the exclusive use of the Elizabethan Suite and Abbots Chambers.
Travatene stone tiled bathroom complete with undefloor heating wet room/walk in shower, bath and dressing/washroom.
Luxury Molton Brown bathroom products and amenities.
Through original leaded light windows unrestricted views out over the gardens, croquet lawn and village of Broadway beyond.

Tales to tell

If walls could talk in this part of the building they would have tales to tell stretching back over c700 years of England’s historic past. In more recent times, when renowned artist Francis Millet restored Abbots Grange in the mid 1880’s, the Elizabethan Parlour became his favourite room. It was here that he laboured over so many of his finest oil paintings, artworks and sketches.

Safety Information

The stone stairway leading up to the Elizabethan Suite, while not steep or long, requires care due to the unusual step arrangement and original rope hand-rail. The Suite is not recommended for ambulant disabled or individuals with walking difficulties for this reason. Please note that Abbots Grange does not have a lift or elevator. Please check with us prior to booking if you feel this may be a concern in any way.
